It's definitely for real;

I still can't quite believe it though. A colleague of mine went and asked if I'd heard of this Spanish chap who'd come second.0 -

Can a fallen cycling hero who incidentally made a load of dosh during his career competing in a novelty cycling event really be described as tragic ? Come on K get a sense of perspective here mate.

I suppose he was paid an appearance fee for this?0

I was there. It didn't seem very tragic to me. They were having a laugh and he thought he'd won but he hadn't. The whole event was great fun. I'm sure he'll get over the disappointment soon enough.
Alistair Kay was pretty cool coming on stage to collect his prize with one kid on his back and another toddler in tow. Summed up the event really. Lots of fun for all the family - like cycling should be.

Is that Ali Kay from York Cycleworks?0

I heard his name being read out, but I naturally assumed "its not THAT Roberto Heras".
What a crease!
Hope its in the UK again next year.The A6 Hazel Grove - "Always the worst part of any ride".0 -
We have a massive cheat, someone who stole races at the highest level, reduced to riding shoppers. It might be fun, but admit it, this is the same as Lewis Hamilton being caught joyriding or Chris Hoy becoming Shropshire Spinning Class Instructor of the Year.
What next, Rasmussen finishes 3rd in the world unicycle hill climb?0 -

No it isn't. You couldn't be wronger. When you call for a bike to send a package and Heras turns up to collect it on a tatty fixie (or Hamilton arrives in a smoky Astramax) you might have a point. But the day that happens, I think you would be within your rights to demand a drug free courier...0 -

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA yeah right0 -
was he doing it to raise awareness of gay rights?0

Yes, but the bloke who won - Alastair Kay - raced in an aero tuck .0
