What tools do I need for a wheel change?

Hello,

I am going to replace the rear wheel on my Tricross myself, but I need to know what tools I should have before I begin. I know I could ask the LBS but they are not 100% reliable and I want to start doing repairs myself.

Anyway, its currently a Deore LX setup with a 9-speed cassette, and I will be putting a Shimano wheel on. I think I need a chain whip tool (I have seen this being done), but do I also need some sort of special spanner?

Also, the wheel I am going to buy is the Shimano T565. Any thoughts on this. I do a commute, and light touring.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Antony

You'll need a cassette lockring tool in addition to the chain whip. plus of course a couple of tyre levers to get that off.

Some cassette lockring tools have a handle, others don't (usually the better ones). If it doesn't, you'll need a large (10-12") adjustable spanner as well.

Don't forget to grease the cassette and the skewer!
