i was working up north last week and during this time i ate a pie.
"nothing unusual for a 19 stone man to be eating a pie during his shift"
i hear you all say but i was suprised when the lady who served me the afore mentioned pie, told me i could find the beetroot at the end of the serving bay.
"the beetroot" like it is normal to eat beetroot with pie.
now, i did eat some beetroot with my pie as when in unusual places i like to eat what the locals eat and it was a lovely thing.
so, i would like to hear what is your weapon of choice with reference to pies (maybe pasty if you are of a s.w persuasion) and secondly what you eat your pie with. in the following format please:
meat and potato
with
beetroot (i am a convert)

I would say meat & potato with beans (made locally, not mass produced Greggs). Never heard of pie followed by beetroot! Northwest here.0

I wonder if you were eating in our staff restaurant..
They always serve pies with either beetroot or red cabbage...
Either of the above go mighty fine with cottage/shepherds pie though!.

Had that after downing a jar of beetroot all to myself, luckily the bloke next to me in the urinals was a GP. Scared the hell out of an 8yr old Redvee. i absolutely love scouse, my mother in law makes it blind as they are all veggies but she makes a seperate batch for me when i go upto the wirral.0

I'd go for a warm Pork Pie with mushy peas, steaming hot, and with a bit of brown sauce. Then washed down with some Viers.
I'd be as surprised as you Teeth if I was offered beetroot! Very strange.0 -
