Interesting report that finds as rate of cycling increases the associated accident rate decreases:

Also, weren't the Australians the ones who managed to "prove" that helmets are bad for you? Not sure we can take them seriously...0

Didnt the DfT come to the same conclusions here? They also had a report stating that traffic jams seem to curb any risk of accident 0

What the study probably showed is that (some) people wearing helmets thought they were 'safe' and took risks where they might not have done without one and had accidents.
This probably lead to the statistics showing that out of all cycling injuries/accidents there was a higher accident rate in those wearing helmets compared to those not. Ergo, wearing a helmet is more dangerous.
More cyclists on the roads would probably lead to a decrease in accidents as people become more aware of them. Drivers get more used to situations with cyclists and have to adapt their driving to suit.0
