So how much weight have you reduced?

Obviously the Ceramic Jockey wheels will also run smoother than your old ones as well.

Not much. 132g. But I didn't do it for that reason really (if I had I would have gone for Eggbeater pedals). Mainly I wanted to replace my chain (wear was at 0.45% - not too bad after 1800 miles I guess), my old skewers looked crap (chipped and rusty) and I never liked the SRAM jockey wheels. Pedals was probably the weakest excuse; I needed some extra cleats for a new pair of shoes

Just got back from night ride and th new chain is a so much smoother than the SRAM one... and the SRAM was kept very clean. The drive train just felt so much slicker.

They're even better in the flesh... really nicely machined and very smooth. I've never tried their stuff before and I'm impressed with the quality of all the bits. Might even give their cassette and chainrings a try later on.

I have a KCNC scandium flat handlebar. It only weighs 110g and seems strong.

Shame the jockey wheels are only for Sram X0 or Shimano, I've got bikes with X9 & X7 on them.

  • Yeah one of mine has X9...good excuse for new shifters and mech

got to admit, the kmc chains are very good! ive got the X9L and its super smooth! so pleased i went for it! also Super strong too! and it looks the nuts! also got the jokey wheels as my old ones had crumbled inside!
the std ones on www.cleecycles.co.uk are only a couple of pound more than std shimano xt ones!

are you seriously telling me you can really feel a difference with new jockey wheels? :?

No... I think we were all saying about the chain. I guess smoother wheels would aid in shifting a little. My original SRAM ones were gritty and wobbled a little (not much) on their axis; they just seemed cheap and nasty!

  • i honestly dont think you'd notice the wheels if you changed them new for new, but changing the old for new does make it smoother transition from cogs to wheels,
but yes overall, the chain is a Lot smoother running and silk shifts! so much so that a coup eof times ive had to double check its actually changed! (in that you know it has because the pedals get stiffer/lighter but it made no noise so needs to be checked loL!)
without doubt i would buy another chain! (and the jockey wheels!!)

aaah, thats fair enough. dont get me wrong, i am a big fan of bike bling, its a nice thing to have, its just when folk pretend there is a different excuse for it other than tartyness (again, a good thing in my opinion)

if i didnt agree, i wouldnt have fitted a chris king and thompson post to my newest bike, also i would have bought better for value welgo pedals instead of mag v12 and i wouldnt be eying up a set of those jockey wheels for my mech and i wouldnt be looking for a nice carbon bar either

more of it in my opinion, lets just admit why we really do it, its cause it all looks cool*

*if you dont like it, start your own thread
  • haha! yeah your spot on there!

i have to admit, i have carbon bars, carbon seat post etc but then the frame's carbon so i wanted to be even more tartish with it!!!! hahahah!

the wife buys shoes and handbags! me, i pimp the bike!!

thats fair enough and i htnk it has already been discussed elsewhere that the way a bike looks make you think differently about it.

i get the impression that most folk frown on tartyness but if folk were brave enough, they would admit that they all like a bit of bling, its very satisfying.

lets see how many folk with hope seatpost clamps (not the best on the market, too expensive and not all that functional) tell us that bike bling is a pointlkess waste of time and we are all duped by marketing.

i say bike bling is our business, im taking it back from the shadows and declaring i like to waste my own hard earned cash on my own bike

    WHO'S WITH ME!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

nope, buy some, they are the ultimate bling as they are ridiculous and need to be treated with kid gloves, serve no purpose and lighter stronger wheels can be bought easier.

also, a set of carbon mtb wheels are more expensive than an average full sus bike!!!

    Yep, the ultimate must be the DT Swiss 1250... a snip at £2000;

  • My work is slow so I end up buying bling kit for my bike.

Its an evil but I am willing to live with it.

Nothing like red hope Mono M4s with floating rotors on my Ransom, or the Joplin seatpost or the Hope bar end plugs or the white set of V12's or perhaps a new white saddle or the braided hose kit or the goodridge cable kit or the (newly ordered!) Kcnc jockey wheels or the on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on ooooh look something shiny!
