I have just rediscovered mountain biking and am looking to upgrade my trusty Ridgeback as I finally worked out how old it is!!

Friends have recommended the following

BeOne Ten Hardtail Bike - Ltd Edition 2007

Merida Mats TFS 350 trail D

Both are within budget any got any comments/suggestions???

I'd avoid the Beone - has a really poor fork that will ruin the ride.

The Merida looks ok, one to test. Also check the What Bike thread for ideas.

Another option for you may be the Boardman Comp, it £100 more (£649) but well worth it. If you brielfy compare the spec of the bike you see you get alot more for your cash like Juicy 3 brakes, SRAM x9 RD and a Recon fork. Failing that go with the Merida
