Parking for York Station

Off on a Newcastle-Edinburgh jaunt and starting off from York station. The national rail website suggests the long stay car park is full from Tuesday to Thursday - so what's the best alternative? Getting a train at 9am, so not sure that getting a different train into York is a goer - anywhere reasonably secure we can park up and ride a few miles into York? Or (even better) are there other long term car parks ner(ish) York station?

Thanks

I used to abandon my car on a housing estate just south of the town centre when I needed a place in York. It was walking distance to the station and thankfully the car was not vandalised or stolen.
  • Cheers - I think the best/safest option (safest as in "not missing the train" safe) is to get the train from Skipton to York and catch the obscenely early Nat Express Leeds-York train that allows us to reserve bikes.
