Hi all,
I have just built an old steel framed bike into a single speed, and I cannot believe how nicely it rides. So I'm smitten!
I would now like to get a steel frame to build into a modern 'old' bike.
Steel frame, 1" fork, quill stem, down tube shifter, but 10 speed.
Does anyone know companies that make such a frame (preferably made from Reynolds), or am I best off just buying an old frame built from Reynolds tubing and respacing the rear?

best off buying an old frame, i'd say.
i have a colnago super from 1979, it's considerably lighter than my condor acciaio (both steel, one columbus, one dedacciai) from 2004.0 -
Try Mercian, they have classic style frames in their catalogue.Recipe: shave legs sparingly, rub in embrocation and drizzle with freshly squeezed baby oil.0

Basically 725 and 853 are lighter and (probably) have a higher tensile strength than 631.0 -
I am just building up a 653 Mercian Strada. If I was starting from scratch I would get a new Mercian custom frame. Probably 631 and possibly the Professional.0

I have a blue Gios Compact Pro with chrome forks that I really like. Cinelli also makes a really good looking one in red. They are out there. Shimano makes 10 speed down tube
shifters if I'm not mistaken.

Second the Rourkie option, I have a 953 from him and it lives up to all the hype, big bucks though and Jason tends to tig weld so if you wanted lugs, you might be better trying someone like Chris at Edison near Chesterfield. Builds a lovely frame (I've had a531ST of his for 15 years) and he either uses lugs or brazes.0
