What's your record for staying on a turbo trainer?

 Just wanted to know what your record is for staying on your turbo trainer?

I did 2 hours 36 minutes yesterday, beating my old record by 12 minutes. I'm not sure what it proves:

1. I'm 12 minutes more boring than I used to be
2. I.m becoming anti-social
3. I need to get a life
4. All of the above

On the other hand this time may not be 'hard core' compared to some of you others.

The only real good point about doing that time IMO is that it hypnotises the dogs and they stay quiet for ages :D

  • Don't think i've ever done much more than an hour and a quarter. Some guy was in cycling weekly a couple of weeks ago - saying he'd set off intending to do a 6 hour session but 'only managed 5hrs 45....

    Mental.

55 mins. The hour was so close, but I just couldn't do it. I am weak.

There's a local tale of a triathlete who did all his training on a turbo cos he considered the local roads to be too dangerous. He worked at a colliery and did all his training in a room in the pithead. He entered an ironman and did all his 112mile training rides on the turbo.

  • Sick people. Uhm, I mean dedicated trainers  :D

I'm in the process of learning to cope with mostly ergo workouts. So far I'm doing an hour at a time but that will need to get longer, before long.

done around 3 hours occasionally while watching a couple of films, but arent exactly hard session, just gently spinning without even bothering to use the bike computer but i suppose its better training than three hours on the sofa

2 hours once - only because I was reading triathlon forums of people doing 3-4 hours - never again. I find the 2*20s aren't too bad and with a warmup that's an hour so that's the longest I'd do now.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

I have done a few 3 hour sessions, but I do have a Tacx Fortius, and the Alpine Classic RLV keeps you occupied for a good few hours.

3 hours doing the Spinervals Tough Love DVD. Despite the title (and others of theirs) it's not porn.

Hour and a half tops. Pretty much bored to tears after an hour no matter what type
    of workout I do.

Wish I had that much determination to stay turboing for a long time!

I might start doing the whole easy spinning when bumming around. Stay in easy gears and just spend ages spinning away, like endurance training in winter, but warm and with tv!! (Any training benefits of this???)

A few intervals sessions on that torture machine and a few gallons of sweat later and hey presto I'm done after 35 minutes max! The majority of my training past winter was on the trainer in the garden shed... haven't faired to badly considering..

I have a client that will happily do 3+ hours on the trainer (a Kurt Kinetic) and she watches movies. But she is also working at a reasonable intensity on these rides. Tells me she gets through lots of movies like that. I think if you live in snow bound winters, you haven't a lot of choice!
  • About 2 minutes.

I'd rather stand the pissing rain, cold, snow, bad drivers, bad roads, mud, anything. Anything than ever using a turbo again.

Time and Tide wait for no man.

Oh yeah, anyone who believes that has never sat on a turbo trainer waiting for the clock to display 60:00

I can do 2x20's and a 60 min varied intensity session. Longer than 60 I can't do and I need some sort of DVD or soundtrack.

3hrs 45 mins. I once rode the whole Alpine DVD on a tacx i-magic. Col du Telegraph, Col du Galibier, descent to Bourg and up Alpe d'Huez. At least when I rode the Marmotte this summer I knew most of the course 8) .

  • Had to read this thread twice before i replied because i was amazed at the endurance of some of the people on here!!

Generally, even when the session is going well, im bored senseless after about 40 mins...made it to 55 mins once and climbed off out of sheer and utter lack of interest.
  • On the rare occasions I use an indoor trainer, it's usually for an hour. However, I've done 2hrs 15 mins before. Any longer would need fans or something, as it's inside the house and the heat gets a bit much. I find an hour of tv and an hour of iPod music passes without too much trouble. Maybe I'll tackle three hours this winter.

3 hours. Wow, you're a better man than I am Captain F. I thought I could handle boredom
really well but if you make 3, you are the new king.

  • Steady on dennis - I've only done 2hrs 15 to date. genki is the undisputed king (or queen) at present.

I think someone on this forum (booboo?) did something ridiculous like 16 hours on an indoor trainer for charity!!!!

You guys are all a bunch of sissy's(myself included). 2 1/2 decades ago one of
the guys(Rick Gunther) who used to race with our local bike club(Maumee Valley
Wheelmen) set a world record for "mileage" covered, on a set of rollers, in a 24 hour period. The actual "distance" that he covered was 838 miles on May 14, 1983. Haven't
seen him in quite a while. Chronic tendonitus finally knocked him off the bike for good
and he turned to go kart racing.
