hi all is basic deore kit any good?
its a set of shiters inc front and rear mech https://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=prod ... egoryId=84
at £40 quid it seems a bargain to me?
even if it will only last 6 months it gives my wallet some time to recover after its recent kicking lol
o will mostly be road use with light xc
thanks rob

Deore mechs are fine, I agree, cheap shimano casettes are not though, buy a sram casette and chain, my srams lasted nearly twice as long as the shimano bits now.0

8 speed generally is more mud resistant, as everything is slightly wider spaced. seven speed is even better!!i ride a hardtail0

aye aye, very true. ive got an 8 speed XT shifter which i fully intend to keep forever. cnat say the big gaps between ratios really ever bothered me though, even on my 7 speedi ride a hardtail0
