Frame number

Am selling my old bike on e bay (Marin Rift Zone 06) . Have offered to provide proof of purchase with the bike but a potential buyer has asked for the frame number. My new bike has the frame number on the receipt but there is no such thing on the receipt for the bike that I am selling.

How do I go about getting the frame number? Is it normally stamped on the bike somewhere? (It's not jumping out at me!)

    Have a look under the BB, or by where the front mech is attached to the frame.

    Occasionally on the back of the seat-tube too, near the top.

    I've come across them under the BB, at the bottom of the seatube and also on the left hand dropout.
    I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
