i have a Trek 1000 and want to upgrade my wheel set. I want a strong wheelset that can cope with th great Irish potholes as I live in Ireland. They must also be compatible with 8 speed S-ram. I quite like the Shimano 105 6500 as they are in my price range, but having fewer spokes will they be strong enough. My spokes on my current wheels have snapped twice in as many months. Anyone got any good suggestions or are the wheels i've chosen suitable?

What wheels do you currently have as they will give a good idea of what doesn't work?

The ones that came as standard are the Alex Alloys with alloy hubs which are fairly cheap and nasty.

Went for the Shimano 105 wh6500. Just hope they are strong enough. Does anyone know where i can get spare spokes for them as initial searches on the net appears quite fruitless.
