Hi all. Im thinking of upgrading my forks to Rockshox 454 Pikes but not sure which one to get and how they ride . The one in questions is coil or air. I ride mainley street bit dh bit trails bit freeriding (steps / drops/ jumps etc) not big stuff, small to med size stuff. The forks have at mo are good no porbs yet with them, they are Marzzochi Drop Off 3 150mm travel and i have a hard tail. The Rockshox are in my price range too. So any info on them be great thanks.
I don't have a bike addiction problem.....bikes seems to have a problem with me.....it just can't seem to stay on.

so the Pike?
and your old forks are the 2006 year?
so you have budgeted for a new wheel/hub as well?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

hello, well no dont need wheel and hubs already have 20mm bolt through hub (DMR revolvers on Sun S Track rims and forks are 2007, thats what said when got them although i also think there 2006 models. Got them from Winstanleys last year. As for the forks yeah Pikes forgot to put it on ill edit it then cheers, was in rush going out on bike. So any suggestions shall i get the air ones or go for coil, the air are bit lighter and bit more in price i think or is there really no difference in perfomance etc. TThay look good and read good mreviews on them and be right for my frame looks and size too. Cant make mind up which ones, thanksI don't have a bike addiction problem.....bikes seems to have a problem with me.....it just can't seem to stay on.

I have 454 single air Pikes and love them, had to get air due to how big/heavy I am. I can't fault them, and they are mega adjustable, travel, AND negative and positive air chambers, I guess thats what you might need when you are switching styles on the bike. You get a shock-pump which is dead small and light too so you can carry that with you as well.
TBH I can't tell the difference between my Air PIkes and my mate's Coil Revelations? Someone else will give you their opinion, keep your eyes peeled!0 -
OK thanks, one more thing are the air forks strong like the coils ones as i do like drops riding any steps and what ever come across.I don't have a bike addiction problem.....bikes seems to have a problem with me.....it just can't seem to stay on.

Or how about sending your pikes off to tf tuning to be pushed, makes quite a difference.

Coil forks are generally regarded as being stronger, and give a more plush feel.0

coil are generally more big-hit friendly kinda thing, but my 36's are air and they're brilliant for giving a damn good thrashing!! I prefer air to be honest; more adjustable, lighter although you loose plushness and potential reliablity problems, but still id go for air over coil unless it was serious big hit riding you were doing.I said hit the brakes not the tree!!
