Seeing as though I can't get a charge spoon saddle anywhere in the country! Can anyone suggest a good alternative to try??? my budget is quite small - upto £40. I find the ones with the "groove" the most comfy!

I like WTB saddles personally.
You can easily pick up a Rocket V or Pure V on eBay for quite a bit less than £40.0 -

There are some corking deals on the ('07) SDG Bel Airs at the moment.

the selle italia pro-link is so comfy
in fact when I got hold of my new Beone mtb, I took the pro-link off my road bike to use on it....
It has stood upto thousands of miles of use and is still in awesome condition...

I can't stand SDG Bel Air's, they're nowhere near as comfy as the WTB. I know a few folks who don't get on with the Charge Spoon as well.
But as everyone's ass is different whatever anyone recommends might be right or wrong for you, will your mates let you try their saddles out before you spend your hard earned?

Not cheap but comfortable - came joint top with the Spoon with 10/10 in an MBR group test last year.0 -
Saddles are a very personal choice. I have a Bel-Air on one bike and a Gobi on the other. When I tried a friends Spoon I thought it was hard.
For racing I might even try a lighter saddle than the Gobi, such as a Signo.<font size="1"> Streako </font id="size1">

I've just done a few miles on my mates WTB rocket V - very comfy except I kept bashing my back on the VERY hard nose when I was standing over the bike.
Still..... Think I might grab myself one of those!0 -
