Looking for advise or other peoples expierances with these bikes Giant Trance 3 07, Reign 3 05 and kona dawg deluxe 07.
To put you in the picture i dont intend to stay fat, its the old stopped smoking excuse! I've been riding a Teocali (large) for the last 2 years and had 2 new frames due to cracking which is probably due to me having the seat at max. extention (im 6'2" and 105Kg) or thats the conclusion we come to. Dont think ill get another frame on warranty so im looking to get something different.
The type of riding i do would warrant a 4" travel bike but these tend to be light weight xc bikes and perhaps not suitable for my sort of size. The 3 bikes ive listed above i have found below £999 not too concerned about spec - ive got some nice stuff on the mongoose i could swop over and weight isnt too much of an issue ( im hoping to loose the weight of the bike
Would apprieciate any advice on these models or other suggestions

Is the frame big enough for you? A larger size will have a longer seat tube therefore more support. Granted this alters length and standover. How much seatpost exactly was it?
Its a pity so much of biking is dictated by travel: as you say, 4 inch bikes now seem to be firmly in the lightweight XC terratory - I am sure there would be a market for stronger ones.
The Reign is a longer bike than its smaller brother, the Trance. Be worth testing them, see how you feel, and discussing the problems you have had with the dealer.0 -
Thanks for the reply supersonic, Its the largest frame they do in the teocali range and i've fitted a 400mm seat post to keep it within the frame .
Do you know if the trance and the reign are the same basic frame with just different shock position/linkage length they look so much alike,0 -
I am pretty sure they are different bikes - though someone else may know more! Email Giant, the customer service is very good.0

I know what i'd get for a grand...
Ti456 from on one!
It might be a hardtail, and you might have a long wait, but boy will you enjoy it! You could also look for 4x or smallish freeride frames.0 -
Just a frame though ;-)0
