Bit confused as to which model I need.
Its for a glory8.0, 83mm - BB shell. 1 ring

whatsthe difference between East coast, MTX, MTX wide etc!?

Also im thinking a 42ring - would this be best choice for DH racing, general freeriding with not much climbing??

cheers

42T is huge. More like 38T.

yep - I am running a 38 up front and a 11-32 out back and its a nice setup - climbs are not that bad either

The East coast is for 42t and the MTX is for 38-40t. (if you want to run 36t, use a STS) The wide angle back plate is used to acheive better fitment on bikes with low chainstays, while keeping the upper slider as close to 12 o'clock as possible for smoother operation.
You should be fine with a std backplate MTX @ 38t.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
