Creaky noise

Hi All,
While I'm riding my specialised stumpjumper 08, which I got in Feb. I'v noticed a creaking noise intermittantly when I pedal with any pressure.
Any ideas what causes this? I suspect the DMR V12's, could it be the terror pins not screwed in enough?
On a side note my v12's are not freely spinning as I would like, they do not carry on spinning if I give them a push off the biike. Is it a good idea to attempt to loosen the bearings?

MIght be worth checking that your BB hasn't lost its' grease. Mine did the same thing after a "friend" helpfully aimed a jetwash straight at it...
While you're down there, also check that your cranks are properly attached...Old hockey players never die - they just smell that way...0 -
If the creak happens only when seated, check that it's not just the seatpost creaking in the seat tube or the saddle rails moving slightly when the pressure of pushing down on the pedal lifts your butt on that particular side rocking the saddle slightly.
I had a creak like that for about a month - checked BB, pedals, cranks and all I really had to do was remove seat from post and give it a clean and re-lube the seat retaining bolts. DOH!
If it's when standing on the pedals then please ignore all of the above.

my bike creaks whenever i stand up or sit down. nothing broken, but its annoying as hell, and only whren i put pressure on the cranks. ive no idea what it is, but its done it for ages. no-one oive spoken to knows either. thats on my GT though, so something quite different.I said hit the brakes not the tree!!

Just remembered something!
Where your cable outers sit in their 'stops' at the ferrules can sometimes get contaminated by dirt or even washing solution which has dried on. This can cause the cable to creak when small movements are made with the bars as you do when pulling on them with any pressure. Spraying GT85 or similar onto the cable 'stops' can eliminate this.
Might not be of any use but hey, you never know!0 -

ok mine does this, just remove clean and grease the rear sus bearings, mine need it about every 4-5 months0

grease up, (i've used mostly finish line teflon)
saddle rails, rails into saddle body (drip wet chain lube into these and soak in)
saddle clamp and bolts.
seatpost to frame.
seatclamp and bolt.
all stem bolts.
handlebar clamping area.
fork steerer to stem clamp.
headset top cap and bolt.
headset spacers.
single headset spacer helps too.
that's removed all creaks from my bike i hope i'm
not doing anything silly there but nothings fallen
off yet, of course no grease on carbon fibre bits.0 -

yeh grease all contact points, and bolts its the way forward hehe, i use a tun of black gold grease its nice and green and thick, really good for bearings0

how do the rear bearings come out. Is it with an allan key, would I unscrew them and they would just come out. And would they go back in no bother?
