Airport security and shoes with cleats

Has anyone had any problems getting through airport security in the UK or anywhere else wearing shoes with SPD cleats in them?

Could have sworn I've seen a thread about this somewhere. I've not had any problems myself but if in doubt just stick them in the tray with your keys. Given that some airports are now x-raying shoes it's probably best to tell security upfront - at least if you are travelling by air.0

I always tell them before they ask me and that seems to work.
And yes, I only take one pair of shoes through an airport if I am going touring on my bike. Why would you take more? (Unless you are Mrs Pneumatic, who always takes at least six pairs of shoes everywhere.)0 -

Well you'd struggle to ride the bike with flip-flops.
I ride with MTB shoes these are perfectly practical to walk around in. a pair of shoes can weigh a half kilo or more- why would you carry the unnecessary weight?0 -
Because my feet stink quite badly if I wear the same pair of shoes constantly.

If you are touring in a hot country, just put the shoes in the wash with your other cycling kit. Otherwise, take out the insoles and wash them. That keeps the camembert at bay.0 -
