Is a micro-drive set up likely to 'squeak' more?

Just rebuilt a 24" jump type bike around a new frame. My rear hub had a ss 10t cassette (NS BIkes ss freecoaster pro) so I lined it up with a 23t front sprocket (united squad) to get a similar ratio to a 36:16 - which I like.

I can't seem to get it all squeak and grind free - its all nice and tight.

The cranks are gusset pygmy with a straight 19mm axle 145 mm wide (new axle) with a 68mm bb shell, the bottom bracket is an FBM mid (same bearings as a profile unit) and the chain is an 1/8inch half link.

Are micro set ups prone to more squeaks? I've built a lot of drive trains and never not been able to get it squeak free.

Sounds like you need to lube some thing.

it should not be any different to a normal set up.

    my 11 26 is silent.

  • its more of a creak really than a squeak - the frame has a fair degree of flex - ive lubed the chain very well.
