set me thinking about essentail bike, on the road food-stuff - for me it is dates, fig rolls, if you can find them, Mars Bars and strangely, likky allsorts..
What is your preferred on the move food?
P.S. Can't think why folk pay out on hugely expensive Power Bars/Gels

Home made flapjacks or Kellogg's Elevenses.0

When out on the bike the Mars bar becomes an object of great beauty - best served fresh from a back pocket and therefore slightly squishy.0

Flapjacks and snicker bars.
And usually a massive sandwich, scone and can of coke if theres a cafe involved."A cyclist has nothing to lose but his chain"

Liquorice allsorts and nuts.
They fit in the back pocket and don't go icky.0 -

Usually ham or beef and mustard, occassionally cheese. Bananas are a staple when on the bike and sometimes Jordan's breakfast bars. Cheap 'n' cheerful, that's me.
Normally I'll take a power gel, as well, for emergancies - I've only properly bonked once, but never again.[/i]A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject - Churchill0 -
Banana(s). One every a.m. ride. Only fruit I ever eat and only occasion I ever eat any! Lots of cake and cream and coffee if with the CTC.d.j.

Good call. It's highly underrated over this side of the pond.
I still cant believe that anyone really does eat that  just Jam sandwiches, bananas or Jordans Frusli bars for me.
Peanut butter and jam in between the same slices of bread? I think I would prefer to eat sand .0
