may seem an oddball question but whilst in tesco the other night it got me thinking, would cycling with ankle weights give you any additional fitness in terms of when you cycle with out them???
didnt know if the additional weight will boost leg muscles at all??
know with running if you run a lot with them it can make a difference so wondered if the same oculd be true of cycling??????

Not really, if you want to do resistance training you'd do better to just let your tyres down.

Think you'd stuff your knees and ankles up.

A weighted bag would have a similar effect but without the danger.
Or buy a 40kg Dutch bike!

Wouldn't make any difference putting them on your ankles unless the weight on each ankle was different due to counter weight.

It wouldn't suprise me to see someone doing that these days. Utterly pointless.

Pippen, yes it would, but only when accelerating.

    Not really

no disrepect ride_whenever but now you're contradicting yourself.

Adding these when cycling is like taking an extra 3 quart litre of water in your hydration pack. Fair enough, the extra weight would add to acceleration and climbing, but would it be enough to notice, or benefit from/
