Undo allen pinch bolts half a turn at a time alternating between the bolts when pinch bolts undone remove pre-load cap on most shimano cranks there is a small black plate which pivots on the inside pinch bolt this plate has a pin which fits in ahole in the crank axle which stops the arm falling off if the bolts come undone lever this up with a screwdriver and the arm should come off if it doesnt dont hit it soak a rag in hot water and wrap the rag round crank leave for a minute and it should come off with a bit of wiggling

If you don't have a pre-load tool then you can use needle nosed pliers, see the trailside fixes on the front page.
