Birkenhead to Ellesmere Port

I'm trying to find a quiet cycle route from the ferry in Birkenhead to Ellesmere Port, ideally joining up with Sustrans Route 5 towards Frodsham. Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cunobellin - thanks; probably in a hurry. I'm doing my version of the Trans Pennine Trail , east-west and return west - east. Rather than retracing my steps I thought a detour across the ferry and thru Ellesmere Port and Frodsham to rejoin the TPT near Warrington or maybe further east would be interesting. Are you the person who did Hull - Harwich via Grimsby?
