what bike?

I am looking to get my first road bike to commute to work and back and probably the odd longer journey. Its bout 20 mile round trip and am on a low budget of approx 250 quid and dont know what bike to go for.
Only managed to find two in range. Carrera virtuoso and Dawes giro 300.
Any advice would be appreciated.

    Have a look in Decathlon, Should get a better bike than the Virtuoso for less than £200 from there.

    Would you be interested in a fixie/singlespeed? Sigma Sport in Kingston have the Specialized Langster on offer for £329, down from £399.
