Clank Clank!! of an LX Crank

Ive had my LX Crankset for around 8 months now and everytime I work the crank under load I hear a clanking sound from that particular area. Stripping the crankset from the bike, cleared any gathered muck that may have built up and inspecting the bottom bracket I couldnt find any solution for the problem. Could it be that my BB has seen better days?

Sounds like a worn bottom bracket. If its a Hollowtech II the BB's are notorious for wearing out quickly and 8 months would be a good innings especially over winter.

Also check all chainring bolts are tight, but really there is not much to go wrong with them.

I had a knocking recently and upon inspection I found the crankset axle was actually moving under load.
