Spreading a frame

Is it a really bad idea?

I have a Raleigh Twenty and I am thinking of spreading the frame from 110 to 120.

Alternatively I may get the hub re-spaced?

  With short stays I imagine that a near 10% widening will call for a professional job? Sounds a bit drastic to me, but I'm not an engineer!

  Cold set an old 531 frame to from 120 to 135, was suprisingly easy with a couple of 2x4s.
