hey,

I'm entering a 24 hour enduro later this year. I need to purchase a decent set of night lights but without the secent price tag!

Anyone got any suggestions, budget is around £300. I've not got any experience riding in the dark so any comments welcome.

Cheers

  • Try and get your lbs to lend you some to try.

Hope are releaseing new LED lights in the next few weeks which are supposed to be very good.

I currently use a Hope HID which is handlebar mounted.

I'm debating ayup (www.ayup.com.au) as you get a two pairs of light for £250. This would give me a helmet and handlebar with enough battery power for Enduro.

The key seems to be to check the spec in lumens to get a fair comparison.

I did find a link which rated lights by brightness in lumens and the cost per lums but I can't find it now.

    Hope it helps

so - 2 votes for the ayup?

I'm not sure 280 lumens is enough so still researching - need to find out what my Hope HID is to compare.

  • Have a look at lumicycles website. Similar £££ to the ayups but British. Give them an email with your requirements. You wont be disappointed.

    Cheers guys,

I'll check out the British guys 1st. Much rather keep the cash in the country and British sport as long as they do the same job. at the same price. If not I'll check the others out.

    Thanks for your help

Check out the Fenix lights. The 180 Lumen light comes in at under £40 and compares favourably to the Exposure Joystick Maxx. Two of those would be enough to light any singletrack i've ridden, three would be even better. Batteries are cheap too as they take rechargeables.

I'm getting three Ultrafire lights soon. They aren't quite as bright as the Fenix but at £50 for all three delivered including batteries i just couldn't resist trying them :)
