Wild Camping in Sicily & Sardinia?

Like the subject line says, anybody tried this? I'm planning a tour on these two islands, and there's a few spots in the interior where campgrounds and/or cheap lodging seem to be pretty scarce. I'm bringing camping gear and I'd like to use it, but I'd prefer not to annoy the locals if wild camping is truly frowned upon.

I was in Sardinia in september and did not see anyone wild camping - on the other hand nobody saw me - where there is a scarcity of campsites the terrain is generally a little wild and finding a suitable spot was often a little problematic
  • Oh , just do it ! :)

You won't bug the locals if the locals don't see you . It's as simple as that .
I haven't biked in either of those two islands but have travelled all over them . There doesn't look to be anything there that would make me think twice about the prospect of wild camping .
I've covered Europe by bike in times past just by calling a halt to the day's journey whenever it suited and a decent patch of sod beckoned .
The Italians are doubly accomodating anyway and wouldn't raise a fuss .
