So my new tyres arrived today... and I thought I'd fit the rear quickly so I could go out for a blast tomorrow after work. Got old tyre off, new on etc fitted it all back together before I noticed the new tyre was directional... doh. So I take it off, put it back on the right way and start pumping... nearly there and my pump jams. Strip down the pump (first time I've done this) and nearly loose a few of the internals that I wasnt expecting to fly half way accross the celler. Clean and lube up and put back together. Working better than new!

1hour down... but atleast my pump didnt jam when I needed it 5miles from home/car.

  • dont you just love those little bits that fly off into the corner of the room yo udidnt know existed!! my shed's full of them!

i now make a mental note of how long it 'should' take, then double it and add 10 minutes for comfort before telling the wife how long i am dissapearing into the shed for!!!

the tyres on my coiler take forever to get off, their maxxis minnion DHF 2.35 and at the pressure i run them at 60psi they stick themselves to the rim i literally have to put a flat blade in between the rim and the tyre wall, and try not to pop the tube.

simple jobs that take forever make me very angry and i have flipped and threw a screwdriver at the shed wall cant remember why but it went right through to the handle

Crikey 60psi. Do you use single ply tyres or something? Why so high?

My grief at the weekend was fitting the handlebar mount for my ATC2K video camera. The only place it would fit was towards the end of the bar just inside the grip. Problem was that the fixing bolt was too long and bottomed out on the brake lever resevoir as I tightened it.

Had to wrap an old piece of inner tube round the bar to make the clamp fit snuggly then had to hack saw off the end of the bolt so it didn't interfere with the lever. Then I had to fit a separate mount to the side of the head tube using a velco strap which was too long so had to faff around trying to find something to wedge in the strapping to shorten it.

Started out at 10.30am and finally got done at 12.50pm

    Grrr...
Don't you just hate it when people ask rhetorical questions...
  • I particularly hate the ones where you put everything back together and are satisfied with the job, then you look and theres a part still on the table that should have gone in first, or theres a bit you forgot to grease and you know its important, so you have to take it back apart again!!!
my mates was a good one, put new pads in his brakes quickly and forgot the clip back in which holds the pads in, ended up snapping the piston!! DOH! :)
  • Any job that you think takes any amount of time never does - They always take longer. Especially stuff in the house, so annoying. I have learn't to budget loads more time that I think I need, then I'll be done when I think I will be - But it still never works.
