Is there a way to find the gradient of hills on the internet

    You could always try:

    www.mapmyride.com

    Make sure you select "follow roads" and "display elevation" in the map settings bit, you'll have to work out the gradient yourself (height gained divided by the lenth of climb times 100).

    I've used it loads for finding gradients were I live and it's quick and easy.

    if you use google maps, there's an "elevation profiler" that you can add to your my maps page. very handy.

    I find that if I take my estimate of how steep the hill is and then divide it by 2, it gives the actual steepness :oops:

    The Garmin Edge cycle computers can show you the gradient as you ride. There is a slight lag as it calculates it but I would guess that it is more accurate than trying to work it out from a mapmyride.com route map.
