  • If you get chance, both Christchurch and Nelson have some really good riding.
In ChCh crater rim is good, and in Nelson you've got Fringed hill, Kaka Hill, and the national champs course. Last time I was there you could get route maps for these in the LBS's

    Lucky lucky git!

Wife and I did 3 months there (as part of a 5 month surfing honeymoon) and loved NZ to bits.

South Island is more mountainous and has some stunning scenery.
We didn't ride there but I'd love to go back and give the Kaikoura and Queenstown areas a go.

Oh and the surf was superb too!

The South Island was actually more consistent when we were there- Kaikoura has three cranking RH point breaks and we spent three blissful weeks there - although a Great White was spotted just after we left!

Also surfed Raglan (West N Island), Piha, Gisborne, Taranaki , Castle Rock (nr Wellington) and some of the Northland. Absolutely loved it!

haven't biked in NZ but spent four months snowboarding in queenstown. i'd imagine there should be some good riding up in the remarkables or in coronet peak. queenstown is a good spot to hang out for a while also.
