Please help me.
I bought a muddy fox quest from jjb about 6 months ago.
Things have been going great but the stretch on the cable is bad.
From the shop and only a few weeks unable to get high gear even using the shifters adjustment.
shimano rear and shifter are they this bad or is it me?
i paid £450 for this bike and its booked in for a service and gear service at halfords for the 2 january.
should i buy another bike please advise me please. ?
thanks
andy :x

I have lost 2 stone in 4 months and feel worried this muddy fox is not reliable.
please advise me i`m down to 16 stone.
need a reliable gear system for road and hills and off road some times.
mainly ride it on the road.

If there is something wrong with the bike, take it back to JJB. I'd imagine that the gears just need an adjustment made but I could be wrong. Take it to JJB and see what they say. If you do buy another bike, don't go back to JJB. The bike you bought was severely overpriced considering its spec.

  • im taking your advice and returning the bike to jjb in the morning.
I was thinking of buying another bike better spec amd better reliability what would you go for. ?
like i say i mainly use it for road , but also like mountain off road stuff also. i`m 16 stone also and hoping to be lighter if the bike holds up.
riding about 70 miles aweek and feel bad when the bike lets me down.
    thanks again for the reply

Halford's carrera furys are always really good value this time of year (ie <£400) and offer an awesome spec for the price.
However I'd reccomend going to your local bike shop and asking what they reccomend and try a couple out, that way you also get decent aftercare if things need adjusting or brake.
  • thanks guys for your replys i feel unlucky at the moment.
  • Took the bike back to JJB today so hopefully should get it back in morning.
What do you guys think of giant ?
  • hi i got a muddyfox pitviper and took it back as i had probs with the gear.
i have also lost 7 stone in a year by ride a bike aswell.
spend a bit more on a bike (you get what you pay for)
go for a good bike like pitch pro.
or one of the mid range konas
that is going to hurt in the morning

Giant are the largest bike manufacturer in the world. They have a good reputation and produce very good value bikes. However, make sure you try before you buy.
