im after some new brakes for my Gt to replace my awful formula b4's. i'd love some magura martas and am very very close to buying them, but cant afford really.

does anyone have any other suggestions that are similar in performance or just nice to behold and use thats slightly cheaper? ive been thinking of some 07 juicy carbons or somehing like that. or some hope minis. im just not sure!

    get the formulas serviced?

for new good brakes the Formula Oros have been putting the juicys to shame for 2007.

A well maintained set of B4's should be ok. (not the best but Awful is not a word i would use).

well, it did fade badly last time they were heavily used. but my bikes also going on a diet and whilst i want to replace them for something more powerful, also something lighter.

When was the last time you changed the fluid in the B4s?

Anyway, a whacky plan to make Martas affordable: buy a front post mount RH lever and a front IS LH lever from here http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=20748

Then buy some Magura hose for £17 and a rear post to IS160 adapter for another £5. Swap the IS caliper to the hose on the RH lever and fit to the front. Fit the post mount caliper to the LH lever using a new length of hose cut to length for your frame and fit to the rear.

Hey presto, a pair of Martas for £162.
