New Route Mapping Website

Hi,
After a cross-country trip this summer, I set out to create a place on the internet where cyclists can post routes to a "big map", and all together we can create a bicycle route network of the country or the world. (a wiki-bike-map)
It has come a long way, and I'd like to show you what I have.
The site is Lonely Roads @ http://lonelyroads.org
You can explore the map, view local routes, and view local services (the map is starting with just my route across the country from this summer.)
You can create your own routes, and share them with the rest of the community.
Here are two views of a route I entered:
View the route overview + elevation profile

View the turn-by-turn for the route (the cue sheet is generated by the computer, so you don't need to enter the instructions yourself!)

This is the first release of the site, and I know there is a lot of work to be done. So, I wanted to send it out, get some people using it and get some feedback. The feedback/help forum is located here: http://lonelyroads.org/phpBB3 .

This seems like a good idea for a new routes site. It appears to be a pretty powerful tool.
Can it also be used to create a new and detailed route that riders are planning?
I will put in my 'Manche to Med' route when I get a bit of spare time.

Good idea, but it looks very much like this site http://www.bikely.com/, and they already have quite a few routes.0

An not much different from www.mapmyride.com
Good effort but not enought to tempt me to0 switch or record my routes on more than one web site.0 -
I had never heard of this route mapping thing until I read this thread. I was intrigued so I looked at bikely.com among others - I ended up submitting a route. It took me two days to do it. It was a bit stressful because sometimes I had problems drawing the route. But once I started I wasn't going to give up. When I finally finished and made the route public I felt quite good that I had managed it, but in reality I doubt many touring cyclists would use it other and reference. One of the most enjoyable things about touring by bike is spending a lot of time over maps plotting your route, discovering your own trip is what makes your trip unique.0
