Christmas spent in interesting places on tour.

Christmas and New Year spent here in Cazorla, Andalucia 2001, although I did not get the snow. Cazorla was a superb town to join in the local festivities and welcoming in the New Year. The Spanish celebrate their Christmas later on January 6th, the day of the Three Kings when the children receive their presents. There must be plenty of other exotic or miserable places where others riders have pulled up for the festive period.

    I celebrated Christmas Polynesian style the last two years, but nothing exciting this year:

    Cycling Hawaii Christmas 2005 (5 ride reports)
    Cycling New Zealand Christmas 2006 (3 ride reports so far)

    New Zealand was relatively very busy in December since that's the peak season for local and foreign tourists so it wasn't nearly as relaxing as Hawaii the year before. Both Christmas' were very interesting but I'm kind of glad to be home this year. My wife jokingly says, "No more trips until you post your backlog of ride reports." That's what I'll be working on this holiday season.

    Erratic Rock hostel Pueto Natales Chile, near Torres Del Paine. loads of english so we made a full roast with all the trimmimgs , even yorkshire puds.

    This year I am house sitting in Holbart Tasmania.

    A few years ago I cycled with a friend down to southern Laos - it was a lovely ride in the baking heat. We stayed over at the 'thousand islands', a group of islands on the Mekong. Christmas Day was spent just exploring little dusty tracks on my bike, it was really lovely. By New Years Eve I'd made it across to Vietnam.

    Antigua, Guatemala, coming to the end of month long tour from Belize City to Guatemala including Volcano hikes and visiting Mayan sites.
    Xmas day afternoon was spent on slopes of the active Pacaya Volcano, to be within 2 metres of fast flowing lava was simply incredible, a real highlight.
