Hola chicos!
Got a late deal to Tenerife. Anybody know good bike hire shops in Playa de las Americas or Los christianos? Any routes? Any advice gratefully received.

I was there in July...I took my own bike...Theres one route that stares you in the face....Los Christianos......Arona...Vilaflor......Boca Tauce.....Teide...now I must be honest and tell you I found this climb tougher than Ventoux, Galibier, Tourmalet etc...its a 40km sustained effort without any let up what so ever...never too steep before Vilaflor but afterwards having ramps to 11%....took me 3 1/2 hours with 2 planned water stops at Arona and Vilaflor...you can read my entire experience here:-

Another one I did was I did and would heartily recommend is in the Teno Mountain Range...if you do this run then prepare yourself for steep climbs and staggering scenery....the small hamlet of La Masca should be seen to be believed...gorgeous...and theres a 4km climb coming out of it averaging 12%...you could however do it in reverse and lessen the suffering...my experience:-

You can easily get taxis/buses to starting points for routes

Also got told that the Anaga Mountain Range is also staggeringly beautiful....

2 bike places spring to mind...a great help to me was Les Brown from Tenerife Training...he is siutated in the North of the Island...:-

Another is Geoff at Cycling Tenerife...he is very close to Los Christianos...

Hope this helps...remember that theres virtually no flat in Tenerife
