hi :)
six of us are going up to the peak district in a week or two for two and a half days of riding.
half of us (including me) are pretty new (7 or 8 months) and have only been to places like Thetford and Chicksands. But half have been to Wales and 'done it all' before.
so has anyone got any idea what kind of level we should go for or even any specific names?
Any help would be much, much appreciated thank you :D

  • The only place I have experience of on the bike is around Edale / Castleton / Hope in the northern 'Dark Peak' area. You can ride over and around Mam Tor, and around Ladybower / Derwent reservoirs. There are a few bridleways that are technically, quite simple but still great fun for the experienced when coupled with some speed!
  • I ride regularly around macclessfield forest and goyt vally which are easy rides, Both are on the west edge of the peak district near the town of macclesfield. If you want the more difficult stuff then there is jacobs ladder, hope cross, mam tor and kinder forest. The best books to buy are "Dark Peak Mountain Biking" and "White Peak mountain biking" by Paul Evans and Jon Barton, they are great books but the dark peak rides are the best ones.
