I think we need a sub forum in 'Pharmacy', called A & E, for this kind of thing!

Or have I read it wrong? :?

  • Thank you for that support. So I am not so 'Cuckoo' then :)
  • Whatever about the shopping.. kids get more expensive every year.. I've started the saving and the price checking.
Actually done some of my "shopping" already.. Younger brother is getting married in NY on 26th so the whole family is off there.. Xmas present giving delayed for some till we come back (has to do with voltages and region encoding on Game consoles) .. 1 of my kids has birthday on 20th Dec and other on 4th Jan so big outlay round this time of the year.

    We are really sad!

    I start shopping in January!

We have always had a "Thing" in our family about fun rather than valuable presents, so if we see things in a sale, or elsewhere we buy and it goes into storage.

Hence I have had wonderful presents like a book entitled - God and George W Bush: a spiritual life.

I have also had a year membership of the SPie Girls Fan Club and the Val Doonican Fan Club

My brother meanwhile has been the recipient of a fully working parking meter boght when they were made obsolete in Southampton.

We also spent a wonderful afternoon trying out the "Boiled egg toppers" that everyone was given one year!

Part of the fun is knowing that these presents will beamusing, unusual and that there is no pressure to outdo financially.

PS - the book is brilliant - leave it on a coffee table at work or when you have visitors, and watch the responses!

He that buys eggs buys many shells,

Oh no I don't. She wouldn’t tell me, doesn't give anything away, and she does come up with very original ideas I have to say. So no complaints there
  • Nice one, I would tell you what I am getting my Mum but you never know she might be reading.

Less than a week to go and you can listen to their new stuff (hope they bring out a more affordable version of the CD version for low-tech types like me :( ), as revealed on this forum the other day.

    Yup - two non-surprise gifts so far;

    1) New pair of road shoes
    2) All-stainless Seiko 5 self-winding mechanical watch (very smart)

Anything else I get will be surprises, which is good - spoils things a bit if you know what all your gifts are!
