Buying second hand forks is a risky business.

Numerous pitfalls await the unwary......

Is the steerer tube the right size for the frame?

Is the steerer tube long enough to allow attachment of the stem, or has it been cut down to fit another frame/stem combo, which unless it is brand new or bankrupt stock, it will have been.

Are the fork legs bent?

Are the internals in decent condition?

E-bay or the for sale ads on here are your best bet, be careful though, you need to know what you are looking for.

Yes, if your frame can take a 130mm fork.

You cant just stick any fork on you wish, they have differing amounts of travel, which is suspension movement. Toras are available 80, 100 and 130mm, or travel adjust 85-130.

Saracen Mantra 1 is suspension adjusted for 120 + mm of travel, according to the sales blurb.

RST fork fitted as standard was 120mm.

Should be ok, as long as the steerer tube is long enough and the right width for your frame.

The steerer tube on the one on Ebay is 1-1/8" wide and 240mm long.

If this is a match for width and the steerer tube is not shorter than you need, i'd have a go for them, after asking the seller what condition there in.

With the greatest of respect, that means naff all.

I have boxes for things that are absolutely trashed, the forks are the important things, not the box.

Are they bent? What condition are the drop outs in? Do the adjusters all work? Are there any leaks from seals? Any pitting or rust on the stanchions?

There the sort of questions i'd be asking in one. "what condition are they in?"

If the seller says they are perfect and when you receive them, they arn't, at least you have something to back you up, if you have to try and get your money back.
