Hi, would I be OK with a tube marked 700x20-25 in the 28 (front) in an emergency? Having some difficulty finding 25-30s or so locally.

Should be OK. I've done it and had no problems

Great, thanks, meant to mention, back is 700x25, front 700x28 so ideally looking for something compact that will fit both, my other tubes are 700x28-god knows what and are quite bulky.

Spesh inner tubes come in two sizes:-

    700c x 20-28 and 700c x 28-38

So I wouldn't think there's any problem in putting something marked as 25 in a 28 tyre.

I have been using 20 - 25 mm tubes in 28mm tyres for donkeys years and have no problems whatsoever. In fact I dont think I have ever had a 28mm tube.

I even used a 20mm tube in a 2 inch MTB knobbly once in an emergency though I doubt it would have worked if it had any patches on it.

I don't know about long term? but I ve certainly done this when out on a club run when my 28mm got a p**ture and my spare tube had failed (Specialized Valves ) I borrowed somebody's 20-25, it got me round OK. :D
