Disk Brakes rubbing

Hi, I have just got my first proper MTB bike - a Marin Nail Trail with Avid juicy 3 brakes. I went out on it the other day and it seemed like hard work, not as smooth as i would have expected. I turned the bike over the check the wheels and the back one spins nicely with a little bit of rub against the brake but the front won't really spin that much without catching on the brake and slowing it down straight away. Is this normal for disk brakes or does it need adjusting? How do I do it or should I just mention it when I take it back for it's first service soon?

adjust it using the tri-align thing. undo the calliper bolts, squeeze the lever 5/6 times and hold then re-tighten the bolts. shoudl do the trick.I said hit the brakes not the tree!!

things you should look for are, is the caliper aligned correctly? are both pistons rubbing ?
these are easily fixed if you download the manual (there is a link to avids tech pages in the teck links sticky above) BUT i would be calling the LBS as this should have been picked up before it left the shop."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
