Hi all,

I have just bought a Claude Butler Urban 300 (any thoughts on this bike) and plan to get back into cycling for commuting to work and taking my 2 year old daughter out and about.

I m after opinions on the bike I have bought, and for a list of must haves, e.g. bike lock, puncture repair kit etc.

I just need to know where to start really.

    Dont see much wrong for the money TBH.... for commuting and going out for gentle rides with your daughter I'd say its good value for money. The only doubt I'd have is with the fork, I assume you mean this bike? http://www.falconcycles.co.uk/CORP/HYBRID/urban300.html
    Its not the greatest fork, but if you look after it maybe it wont sieze up....... I'd ask at the shop if you could swap it for a rigid one, and get a discount. Nowt wrong with being cheeky and asking!

    List of essentials, in my opinion:

    Helmet
    Small Multitool
    Spare Inner tube
    tyre levers
    Water bottle and holder
    Decent lock spend at lest £50
    Proper padded cycle shorts

    Some things to consider
    Saddle bag to keep some of the stuff above in
    clipless pedals once you are a bit more experienced.
    Decent cycle toolkit for home
    Bike repair stand - makes everything so much easier for tweaks and maintenance

    Thanks for the replies.

    Yeah it is the bike that you linked to mate.
    So far I have bought my front/rear lights, I need to buy a load more stuff before I will feel comfortable commuting to and from work.

    Any thoughts on the light?

    Those lamps are suprisingly bright, but for commuting only. As for the helmet, you must try one on before buying, so avoid ebay.

    No probs.
    The lads at work use giro helmets, so I am was hoping to get my size details from them and then purchase vie ebay.
