Seat post adjustment

I have a carbon seat post and seem to spend my life raising the saddle to the right height, only for it to slip down over a period of time and bumps.

Anyone else had this problem?

What is the solution?
tighten bolt more? (I always tighten as much as poss but might have to get hubby to have a go)
Tape seat post to add more friction?

Sorry if this sounds a really daft query ... but it' driving me crazy!

i have this problem on my fixed.

carbon seatposts have a specific seat clamp - if you changed the post without changing the clamp this may be a problem.

i don't have a carbon seatpost but mine still slips by about a 1/4 inch over a few days, which is enough to annoy me.

i just have to live with it, and keep a spare supply of bolts for when i wear through the threads.

  • I'm assuming the clamp is the right one as bike came with a carbon seat post? (sirrus comp)

Glad to hear it's not just me ... thought I was going a bit crazy after spending ages getting seat height just right to find a few days later, my legs had stretched!

i think you can get a sleeve for it.

a sort of thin bit of stuff that fits on and adds grip.

This is a well known problem. There are a few solutions, the best is probably to buy one of these campy seatposts. You could also try either hairspray or roughening the surface of the tube with sand paper.
