Maratona Conditions

Is it really as cold and wet in the Dolomites as I seem to be seeing on the weather websites? It looks like rain every day. Cold rain. Could make for a tough ride.

Take your winter gear. It's always chilly in the wind even on sunny days, but when there is rain it is pretty nasty. I got snowed on there in late May last year.

The Maratona starts early - just after 6 am - so whatever the weather the first col is climbed in the shade. Plus, if you're in a later starting (higher number) group, there's a fairly lengthy wait before you get moving. If it turns out clear that day you may still want arm warmers for the start.
