Bolle Safety / Cycling Glasses on Ebay

Hi

Anyone bought any of these type of glasses from Ebay advertised as safety glasses but also suitable for cycling ?

    Keep it a secret!

    I have the Bolle metal framed safety glasses. (5 pairs at the last count) Cost around œ6 + vat. Buy them at Greenhams.

    Great looking glasses and cheap to boot.

    Safety glasses are great cheap cycling specs, available in many tints & colours these days too. Have some Uvex yellow ones for overcast days myself, I think were around œ8.

    I too have 2 pairs of the Bolle Sillium - one clear and one grey tinted.

    They are incredible value for money. You will not believe it when you see them. As pjm-84 says, they are metal framed, have sprung side arms and a proper nose bridge piece.

    If they were sold as "Specialist Cycling Sunglasses" instead of "Safety Glasses" they would have a zero on the end of the price - they are that good.

    Yep, they'll be fine, but if you buy them from a safety outfitters you'll get them for about œ3 instead of œ10.

    Another vote for the Bolle Silium glasses [:D] Got mine for a fiver each at a local workwear specialist along with my two quid fire resistant overalls! [:D]

    Another thumbs up for safety specs... I don't have the Bolle Silium, but I have these... just got them the other day in fact, in clear and blue lens.

    Am considering a pair of such tinted safety glasses to replace my current and about-to-fall-apart sunglasses, but haven't been able to find out if these safety type glasses offer UV protection. As far as I can tell standard EN 166 doesn't mention UVA or UVB, e.g.

    BE EN 166 & 170 covers lots of different forms of eye protection, UV included, safety ones are certified to both. Actually is mentioned in that pdf under 170.

    If they are polycarbonate lenses (and nearly all safety specs are these days) then you have no worries. Polycarbonate material has inherent UV protection properties of around 99.9%. We are talking ALL polycarbonate here so don't believe the bull you may read on some websites that tries to imply that their specs have something special - they don't have any more UV protection than anyone elses!

    I use the Bolle glasses - I got a set of clear and a set of tinted. They were œ3 each from a shop in orthampton, but i'm racking my brains as to where. Not perfect, but well usable.
