    Wake up at the back.

It's been like this for the last couple of years.

Its not only from Brighton, but almost anywhere on the Southern network. Its been like this for about five years now. I personally wouldn't do the L-B ride as it is just too crowded. I did it once in 1994 and didn't enjoy it. There are many other rides that are just as good in terms of distance but far more pleasurable. The London to Cambridge, Oxford to Cambridge, london to Southend to name but three.

So many roads, so little time!!!

I hate to say it but I travelled on Southern the other week with my heavily laden bike. No problems - lots of bike spaces (6 per train). Polite and helpful staff.

Were they all feeling unwell I wonder?

  • I think that Paulus was probably only referring to the L2B weekend. i think they revoked it for the tdf weekend due to too many complaints, it's a rule that's only in place at peak hours, and i think that a fairly conclusive peak day is when several hundred people are riding from London-Brighton. Seems to make sense really, or else they wouldn't cope with the demand.

I have a bike; she's called Fran. I enjoy her company.

    Best way

I do the same for the Manchester Blackpool, 5 30 leave Preston to cycle to Manchester, do the ride and then cycle back to Preston. done it for several years now.

simplest way in my books, saves all the problem of planning and then waiting for transport.

Correct. on L2B day you can't even get into Brighton station because of the security guards employed by Southern Railways at great expence. elsewhere the station staff are told to keep you nasty cyclists off of the railway for the day.
