Out on Sunday enjoying the weather when right foot feels unusual movement. Hop off and inspect, find the threads in the crank into which the pedal is fitted have stripped and pedal is hanging on by a thread.

Not seen this before, need new crank arms (and maybe pedals now) dam and blast.

  • Did this after being told by a mate on a hybrid that the off road track he wanted to use as a short cut to another road was only a couple of hundred yards long. So off I went, it started out smooth and easy, then it got rocky and the pedal came loose. Screwed it back in with my fingers assuming it was nothing to worry about, then about 50 yards later it came out completely with all the thread stripped off the inside. I was about 10 miles away from civiisation so had to do it with my left leg, luckily I had clipless pedals! I've been told that I'm going to need a whole new chainset which I cant afford at the moment, basically its an absolute sh*tter!

    Q. Are you going cycling this weekend?
