Rather than my usual Santander to Biarritz route into France, this year I thought I'd fly to Barcelona and ride ,say,up east of Andorra then through to Toulouse. At first glance this looks pretty hilly ,and with touring gear may be stretching me too much - I'm 64 and weigh 15 stone. Any suggested routes , tips or alternatives ?

  • Apparently, it sometimes snows in the summer around that part of the world, so take a waterproof tent at the least. Why don't you go from Barcelona to around the mediterranean coast, to marseille/montp. ? That would probably be a lot nicer/warmer.
  • On my 3 month trip from Gibralta back to the UK I went over the road from Llieda to France took me about 3 days, watch out for bears.

On the road from Vielha to St Beat through the Haut Pyrenees there is a long tunnel
I had to wait and get a lift through. Only waited for about 15 mins before a van stopped and took me through
    I'm 58 and was 13st then.

don't miss Carcassonne , and amazing medieval city south of Toulouse.

    Have fun
