I want a lighter wheel set for my Ultra Galaxy to Audax on.

I will probably use Paul Hewitt as he is localish and he has an excellent reputation.

I am thinking of something 32 spoke (I am a big lad)maybe open pro and I fancy something quality and durable for the hubs. Not to bothered on price within reason, so I,ve been looking at Royce, Chris King etc

Any ideas please

  • I'm a Campag man myself but as the Ultra Galaxy is spaced for 135mm hubs at the rear why not have XT or XTR hubs built onto Open Pro's? 32 spokes is certainly OK for 15 stone (my weight when I started Audax back in April - perhaps you are lighter) and with 24/25mm tyres the lower rotating weight of these lighter rims and tyres will make a huge difference. Perhaps a 'tighter' cassette will help out with weight too - there's a lot of weight in some of those big steel cogs at the back!
