Just how demanding off-road excursions have you in mind? Gravel roads or also rough tracks and trails?
I cycled Pohorje range from Slovenj Gradec to Maribor twice. It is 70km of demanding gravel road & single track mix. Track follows Slovenian mountaineering transversal path.
Otherwise my off-road experience is mostly limited to the north-western part of Slovenia.

Try posting on slovenian cycling forums:

Could I manage it with a bob trailer? If there's no carryinh bits it could be ideal. What about camping along the way?

I wouldn't try it with a trailer. There are some muddy and rocky sections with plenty of roots. Carrying a bike across with two small panniers was a chore.
  • Cold you give me some more route details?

I looked into the "Veliki kolesarski vodnik po Sloveniji" (Great Cycling Guide to Slovenia) and there are some suggestions:

    - Vremscica mountain (from Divaca - Pivka)
    - Predjama castle near Postojna to Hrusica
    - West side of Cerknica lake to Rakov Skocijan and Unec
    - Cerknica - Rakitna - Krim mountain (1100m) - Ig - Ljubljana
    - Kamnik - Vranja Pec
    - Menina planina (1450m) between Kamnik and Gornji Grad
    - Solcava - Crna na Koroskem

You need a good map for some of these. Local topographic 1:50,000 maps are available at most TICs, mountain huts or even some petrol stations.
Campsites are very rare outside major tourist destinations. There are campsites in Postojna and Ljubjana. You can also stay at farms or mountain huts for about 10-20 euros.
